Professional Goal.

My first soul-mate was my high school English teacher, Diane Tinucci. She introduced me to the magic that can be born inside a classroom and a good teacher’s role in creating it. Our friendship, which has enriched my life for the last thirteen years, was my first call to the field of education. However, I never felt as committed to literature and writing as I did to connecting with students about their lives and experiences. I discovered during my time as an undergraduate at Drury University that as a student affairs professional my classroom could be devoted to life education on the college campus, a more incisive fit for me. I believe that a role in student affairs leadership at a small liberal arts institution may become part of my story but only as long as I am still connected to students and their needs. For now, my singular goal is to be for students in need of support the kind of teacher that Diane Tinucci was to me; my lessons will be a care for all people and their unique contributions, a commitment to living and working with fervor, and an honesty and accountability in the face of inevitable imperfection.
